I have the honour to inform you that His Majesty

has not been advised to exercise his power of disallowance in respect of the Ordinance forwarded with your despatch No. 758 of the 11th December, 1939, entitled "in rdinance to apply a sum not exceeding Forty-nine milli in seven hundred and six thousand seven hundred and eighty-seven Dollars to the Public Service of the financial year beginning on the 1st January, 1940, and ending on the 31st March, 1941, and also to apply on additional sum not exceeding Five hundred and fifty-nine thousand one hundred Dollars to the Waterworks Renewals and Improvements Fund for the service

of that Find in the said financial year".

I also take the opportunity to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 72 of the 17th November, 1939, forwarding the draft revised stimates of revenue and expenditure of Hong Kong for 1940-41 and copies of resolutions passed by the legislative Council on the 16th November, 1939, authorizing loan expenditure and expenditure out of the Waterworks Renewals Fund, and to

confirm my telegram No. 26 of the 23rd
